Will I see the design before it is made?

Yes. Nothing goes to the bench until you have seen the design and approved it. Most pieces get a CAD rendering so you can see the shape, the setting, and the proportions before any metal is cast.

What should I bring to my first custom design appointment?

Bring whatever you have: a photo, a rough drawing, a saved image, or just the idea you have been carrying around. If you plan to use your own stones or an old piece, bring those too so we can look at them with you. Book a time at here.

Custom Jewelry

Q: How does the custom design process work?

It starts with a conversation about the metal, the stones, and how you want to wear it. From there we work the idea into a sketch, and for most pieces a CAD rendering, and adjust it with you until it matches what you had in mind. Then the piece is made, set, and finished at our bench.

Q: Can you reset a diamond or stones I already have?

Yes. If you have an heirloom ring or stones you inherited, bring them in. In many cases we can take those stones and set them into something you will wear every day, whether that is a new ring, a pendant, or a pair of earrings.

Step 1The Conversation

Every custom piece starts with a conversation. Bring in a photo, a rough drawing, or just an idea you have been carrying around, and we will talk through the metal, the stones, and how you want to wear it. If you have an heirloom ring or stones you inherited, bring those in too. In many cases we can take those stones and set them into something you will wear every day.

Step 2Sketch and CAD

From that first talk we work the idea into a sketch, and for most pieces a CAD rendering, so you can see the design before anything is made. We go over it together and adjust the shape, the setting, and the proportions until the drawing matches what you had in mind. Nothing goes to the bench until you have seen the design and approved it.

Step 3At Our Bench

The work happens in house at our own bench. The piece is cast or fabricated, the stones are set by hand, and it is finished and polished here in the store rather than shipped off somewhere. Because the bench is ours, we can keep an eye on it the whole way through and answer your questions as the work moves along. We will call you when your piece is ready.
